Single O To Celebrate International Coffee Day With $20 Rumudamo Coffee

Sydney coffee pioneers Single O will celebrate International Coffee Day, on Thursday 1 October, with one of Ethiopia’s finest examples, offering fans the chance to indulge at $20 a cup.

The Rumudamo coffee, from a previously unknown supplier, came in second place of 1,459 entries in the first-ever Ethiopian Cup of Excellence (the Oscar’s of coffee) earlier this year. Single O was lucky enough to pick up just 60 kilos of the magic beans.

The elegant, almost tea like coffee was awarded an incredible 90 points by the International Jury and presents incredibly sweet and dynamic fruit flavours. The coffee was purchased at auction by Single O and a few other world-class buyers globally, before being split to return to each buyer’s country for roasting.

Roughly 3,000 cups that will be served around Australia, with 396 numbered bags also available to take home, retailing for $75. The coffee will be served as v60 pour over with a full barista-guided experience at the café brew bar, giving customers the opportunity to learn more about the coffee.

Single O’s outposts in Surry Hills and the CBD will be serving the Rumudamo as a filter pour-over, with a further 19 partner cafes and restaurants around the country including Cutler & Co in Melbourne, The Spot Specialty Coffee in Brisbane, Bread and Butter in Tasmania, Three Blue Ducks offering the historic cup for coffee snobs.
